About this Series
This eight-session series is for any medical director, chief medical officer, executive director, or primary care provider, new or experienced in PACE, looking to gain actionable knowledge for building a more effective and efficient workplace. These sessions, led by expert PACE consultants, will help you prepare for IDT care planning, improve participant care, optimize utilization management and revenue, strengthen workflow, and reduce burnout. For providers who are new to PACE, this series will provide everything you need to know about the history, model, and regulations surrounding PACE. For those experienced in PACE, this series will present practical approaches to the most common challenges you face on a day-to-day basis.

Meet the Instructors
David Wilner, MD, FACP, AGSF
Senior Medical Consultant
Dr. David Wilner has extensive experience in geriatric and palliative care medicine and medical education. A professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Dr. Wilner previously served as medical director and vice president of Summit ElderCare, Fallon Health’s PACE program in Central Massachusetts, and as coordinator of geriatric medicine training at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, MA. He is a past member of the National PACE Association’s (NPA’s) board of directors and former chair of NPA’s Primary Care Committee. Dr. Wilner is board certified in geriatric medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, and internal medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Geriatrics Society.
George “Mike” W. Brett, MD
Senior Vice President, Consulting Services; Chief Medical Officer, Capstone Risk Adjustment Services
Dr. Mike Brett has more than 30 years of experience in geriatric medicine and long-term care. Prior to joining Capstone as a consultant in 2014, he served as the medical director for PACE in Southwestern Pennsylvania. As a private practitioner for more than three decades, Dr. Brett specialized in internal medicine and geriatrics and served as medical director for several long-term care facilities and hospice organizations, in addition to PACE. His work with PACE led to his interest and eventual expertise in Medicare risk adjustment. He is a frequent presenter on topics including polypharmacy in the elderly and risk adjustment.
Indira Kanouka, MD
Medical Consultant
Dr. Indira Kanouka is a board-certified internist who has cared for patients in multiple clinical settings including Federally Qualified Health Centers, long-term acute care hospitals, and PACE. She has also served in medical director and clinician-educator roles in LTAC and PACE. As a medical consultant for CareVention HealthCare, Dr. Kanouka continues to help providers who work in CMS risk adjustment models understand their roles in optimally identifying, diagnosing, and documenting all current conditions, as well as use the PACE model effectively for the benefit of their participants and programs.
